Pedro Chaminé and Wei Santang

In the first half of the 20th century, Sylvia Beach made Shakespeare and Company a reputation for selling and publishing innovative works from Paris. In the 1980s, Chaminé da Mota began to sell antique books and promote cultural events in Porto. In 2022, Editora Chaminé da Mota was established to restore and nurture the tradition of arts and publishing in the Douro capital.

Scholar Wei Santang was born and educated in the Far West in the second half of the 20th century. Writing for more than fifty years, teaching at schools and universities, and cooking, Santang is fond of batting games (baseball and cricket), vintage transport, traditional music, as well as classical languages and literatures. Writing forms address historical topics, verse as well as translation. Santang lives in Portugal.

O académico Wei Santang nasceu e foi educado no "Far West" na segunda metade do século XX. Escrevendo há mais de cinquenta anos, ensinando em escolas e universidades e cozinhando, Santang gosta de jogos com tacos (baseball e críquete), transporte vintage, música tradicional, bem como de línguas e literaturas clássicas. Escreve sobre temas de história, faz poesia e traduções. Santang vive em Portugal.

Der Privatgelehrter Wei Santang wurde in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhundert im fernen Westen geboren und aufgezogen. Er schreibt seit mehr als 50 Jahren, lehrt an Schulen und Universitäten und ist ein begeisterter Koch. Santang liebt Ballspiele wie Baseball oder Cricket, traditionelle Verkehrsmittel sowie Musik, und klassische Sprachen und Literatur. Seine Texte befassen sich mit geschichtlichen Hintergründen, er schreibt Gedichte, arbeitet aber auch als Übersetzer. Santang lebt in Portugal.
